Bobby Plough: Music

Play Something You Know

(Bobby Plough)
Robert Joseph Plough
It was our regular gig
On Saturday night
Pretty good crowd
We were feeling alright
Two songs into the last set
Bringing it home

Then a couple drunk guys
Stumbled into the bar
You tell right away
Trouble wouldn’t be far
About that time the skinny one
Started to shout

Play something good
Play something with style
Give us a little Skynyrd
Or maybe some Lyle
Play something fast
Play some thing slow
But for God’s sake
Play something you know

Well Hecklers come and Hecklers go
I can usually shake it off
And not let it show
But somehow that boy
He got under my skin

I said listen up buddy,
I ain’t trying to be mean
But I don’t come and tell you how
To work the Slurpie machine
Or mop the floor
Down at the Shop & Go

I thought that was funny
It got a laugh from the crowd
But it didn’t shut him up
Still obnoxious and loud
He jumped back up on the bar
And proceeded to shout

Play something good
Play something with style
Give us a little Skynyrd
Or maybe some Lyle
Play something fast
Play some thing slow
But for God’s sake
Play something you know

They got a big ole bouncer,
His name is Joe
He ain’t real bright
But he loves our show
He schooled ‘em on some manners
With the back of his hand

Now those two boys,
They didn’t stand a chance
Joe tossed ‘em out
By the seat of their pants
As their asses were hittin’ the door
They continued to shout

Play something good
Play something with style
Give us a little Skynyrd
Or maybe some Lyle
Play something fast
Play some thing slow
But for God’s sake
Play something you know
