West of Mustang Island
Near the Gulf of Mexico
Where the pastureland is full of sand
And the wild mesquite trees grow
The chaparral and the rattlesnake
They share these coastal plains
From a land untamed is where he gets his name
Rainmaker was his name

Rancho Luz de Luna
Little ranch out in the sand
There lived a mare Josette’s Cute Creek
And a stud Dino’s Dynamd
The sky was dark and cloudy
On that stormy April morn
In a thunderstorm a colt was born
Rainmaker was his name

Across the coastal plains he runs so freely
He runs so tall and proud, his head held high
Storm clouds build on the horizon
He lifts his head and calls out to the sky

As he grew to sixteen-two
He was something to behold
He was a colt quick a as thunderbolt
But the young bay must be sold
Marked only with a white star
Off centered on his face
Tall and proud like a thundercloud
Rainmaker was his name

A young girl came looking
To the stable for a horse
Just one look in each other’s eyes
And the love just took its course
Together they would ride across
The sprawling coastal plains
Tall and proud, he calls out loud
Rainmaker was his name

Across the coastal plains he runs freely
He runs so tall and proud, his head held high
Storm clouds build on the horizon
He lifts his head and calls out to the sky
