Strange Feelin

(Bobby Plough, "Barn Full Of Memories")
Strange Feelin’
By Robert Joseph Plough © 2007

Big snake hanging from a black gum tree
Dark water flows through the cypress knees
Air so thick you can hardly draw a breath
Thinking any moment you could meet your death

Woodpecker fly’n high above ground
Calling out a warning it’s an ominous sound
Something’s stirring in the water the riverbank is clear
Better state your business or get on out of here

I got a strange feelin’ when I came round here today
Don’t know what it is, I really can’t say
It’s something like the aching going on down in my bones
Put your ear to the ground, hear it moan

Way back in the swamp strange things are going on
Shadows start to move like reflections in a pond
You don’t want to know, better hope you don’t see
What’s going on deep within the cypress trees

You feel a lurking presence it chills you to the bone
Eyes peering from the shadows, you know you’re not alone
Gliding though the water making very little sound
But everybody knows there’s a stranger comin’ round

Evolution is in progress, gonna make it right
Working all day and deep in to the night
Something’s gonna happen, really ain’t no doubt
Mother Nature’s got a way of working things out

When you come to visit, tread lightly on the land
Don’t disturb the balance or take the upper hand
Enjoy nature’s beauty, but listen for the signs
Lend a helping hand while we still got time

I got a strange feelin’ when I came round here today
Don’t know what it is, I really can’t say
It’s something like the aching going on down in my bones
Put your ear to the ground, hear it moan
